Around the Web: January 2009

A few quick links to interesting sites around the web:
  • Vancouver Animation is a new site, described by its publishers as an "Online Gazette", with weekly interviews, features, a directory, and forums.
  • We presume most people have heard of it by now, but we've been subscribing to Canadian Brushstroke Magazine for over a year now; with a free online subscription, you get a link to a PDF magazine every two months.
  • If you're looking for reference photos that you can legally work from for your art, try Flickr's Creative Commons search. Just type in your search term, then check off all three boxes in the Creative Commons section. This will narrow the search results to only the pictures that professional and hobbyist photographers have released as "CC-BY". You do have to give credit to the photographer, as the creator of the original work, but otherwise you're good to go.
