2012 VAB board of directors announced

At this year's annual general meeting, we said a fond fairwell to longtime treasurer Pat Wepf, who's retiring from the position after more than a decade. Luis Barrios, elected to the board last month, is now treasurer with training from Pat. Ryan C. Thompson is newly elected to the board.

Keith Moreau, president, Jacqueline Veltri, vice president, and Bill Riopka, secretary. Stephanie Czolij, Paul Draper, Marian Simpson all return as members at large.

Alecia Charney did not stand for re-election.

First Brampton Wing Fest a success

Yesterday, the first annual Brampton Wing Fest was held at Chinguacousy Park's special events field. There was a strong turnout at the event, for the food, music, and competitions. Already, organizers were busy talking about plans for next year's event, before the night was even through.

Visual Arts Brampton member Ryan C. Thompson, who designed the event's logo, was on hand at the Visual Arts Brampton booth all day drawing caricatures for a nominal fee. Member Luis Barrios also helped man the tent.

We're looking forward to next year's event!

Also installed last night was the National Youth Week exhibit, presented in partnership with the City of Brampton Arts, Culture & Theatre department. Original and reproduced artwork was submitted to the Rose Theatre and Pearson Theatre by the public, and to the studio by our youth students. The result is a great, diversely-themed show in our Fridge Front Gallery space.

Barrios/Evans/Highgate/Moreau @ Ching

Luis Barrios, Betty Jean Evans, Paul Highgate, and Keith Moreau are the first three people on display at Chinguacousy branch of the Brampton Public Library's display case. The case is actually out in the Civic Centre itself, as opposed to being something you actually have to go into the library to see.

Each of the three Visual Arts Brampton members will have their work on display for the month of March. A few other member artists will be on display in April.
