VAB's Carabram photos on Facebook

Check out Visual Arts Brampton's Facebook profile: recently added is a photos folder called Carabram 2009, where we're stockpiling photos of our art display and the the Canada pavilion in general. You don't have to have an account on Facebook to see the pictures, if you do however, considering becoming a "fan" of VAB.

Works on display at Carabram are by Betty Jean Evans, Marguerite Finlayson, Emily Kowalik, Keith Moreau, Jacqueline Riopka, Alex Rodway, with Bridget Aube Doughty.

Landscapes, National Youth Week installed last night

Last night, the Landscapes exhibit was installed at Artway. Featured in the exhibit is long-time Visual Arts Brampton member Conrad Mieschke. Also on display are Luis Barrios, Marguerite Finlayson, Dolores Miron, William H. Simmons (pictured, hanging one of his works).

Also installed last night was the National Youth Week exhibit, presented in partnership with the City of Brampton Arts, Culture & Theatre department. Original and reproduced artwork was submitted to the Rose Theatre and Pearson Theatre by the public, and to the studio by our youth students. The result is a great, diversely-themed show in our Fridge Front Gallery space.

Carabram a success

As like last year, Carabram's Canada pavilion was again a success. The exhibit included artwork by Debra Ali, Marguerite Finlayson, Paul Highgate, Emily Kowalik, Conrad Mieschke, Keith Moreau, and Peter Scott.

In all, 40,000 people were expected to visit Carabram's 14 pavilions, many of them visiting Canada at the CAW hall on Regan Road. The Brampton Guardian's public photo database has pictures from many of the pavilions, including Canada. Among guests were a member of Canada's women Olympic hockey team and Duke Redbird of Citytv.

Carabram's Canada pavilion to include VAB

Check out Visual Arts Brampton artwork at this year's Carabram Canada pavilion, part of Brampton's multicultural festival. Art on display will be by Debra Ali, Marguerite Finlayson, Conrad Mieschke, Keith Moreau, Mary Noble, and Peter Scott, as well as the late Bridget Doughty.

Canada Pavilion is at the CAW Local 1285 Union Hall, 23 Regan Road.

Passports can be purchased for only $8.00 per adult from the information booths at Shoppers World Brampton, Bramalea City Centre, Canadian Tire, Royal Bank, and some bus terminals throughout Brampton as well as from pavilion volunteers. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

VAB's display will be open:
Friday: 6 to 9:30 pm
Saturday: 1 to 9:30 pm
Sunday: 1 to 6:30 pm

The Annual General Meeting was held on Monday, April 28, 2008. The board for this annum consists of:

Banner competition won by three VAB members

Shoppers World Looking Up to the Arts event featured a banner competition this year. Entered by many members of the group, it turned out that the three winners were all members, two youth, one adult.

• Jude Hakim, first place
• Samantha Croteau, second place
• Debra Ali, third place

Their work is now being displayed at the Rose Theatre for a few weeks.

VAB members that also entered included Maria Dlubak, Marguerite Finlayson, Katie Medjidova, Keith Moreau, Nicholas Moreau, Mary Noble, Marian Simpson, and the youth class as two multi-person banners. Keith's wife Janice also created a banner.

In total, 45 banners were entered by professional and amateur artists throughout the community.
